Security forces killed three terrorists, including a Pakistani national, in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday, about 24 hours after they tortured to death a policeman in the same area.

BSF troops also shot dead a Pakistani national, allegedly doing a recce, in Jammu's Kathua on Sunday.

Off-duty constable Mohommad Saleem Shah had been kidnapped from his house in Mutalhama village on Friday night. His body with multiple bullet injuries and torture marks was found from neighboring Odipora Qaimoh village on Saturday. Shah is the 25th cop killed by terrorists in J&K this year.

Police said a joint patrol of security forces launched a search operation in Redwani area after receiving inputs about the presence of the terrorists in a cluster of houses.

When the forces were zeroing in on, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in a brief encounter in which the three were killed.

"They were identified as Muawiya, a Pakistani national, Suhail Ahmad Dar and Mudassar alias Rehaan. They were involved in constable Shah's killing. The terrorists were affiliated with banned groups Lashkar-e-Tioba and Hizbul Mujahedeen", said a police spokesperson.

On Saturday night, terrorists posted a chilling video of the constable's interrogation. They are heard questioning him about his role in passing information and killing top Jaish-e-Mohommad commander Adil Pathan.

"The torturers and murderers could not last even 24 hours. Such is the law of God. Saleem, you are Jammu and Kashmir police", tweeted Mohammad Rayees Bhat, superintendent of police, Udhampur.

Police said Mauwiya's involvement was established in a number of civilian killings. Suhail was working as a labourer after he dropped out from school. He later joined the terror outfit, police said.

"Police probe is on to ascertain the complicity of other co-conspirators who assisted in the commission of the gruesome crime", said the spokesperson.

Police said some arms and ammunition including two AK-47 rifles and a carbine have been recovered from the site of the encounter.
