In a heart-breaking incident, the pet dog of the 11 family members who were found dead under mysterious circumstances had died on Sunday.

'Tommy', the sole survivor of the suspected Delhi mass-suicide horror, was found dead at the animal shelter who rescued the dog in Noida, according to a Hindustan Times report. According to reports, the pet dog of Burari family was found chained on the terrace with high fever.

"It is possible that the dog might have had a history of medical issues and its previous owners did not know about it. We find such cases in animals that are of mix breeds. As the dog was brought into a new environment after the tragedy, it required love and attention at the centre. It is possible that the dog couldn’t adjust to the new environment and this took a toll on his health," the animal shelter was quoted as saying.

Eleven members of the family were found dead in north Delhi on Sunday, most of them hanging from the ceiling of their home, blindfolded, gagged and with hands tied behind the back. Except the matriarch, who was strangulated to death, all others were found hanging from the wired mesh in the courtyard. The family's dog 'tommy' was then found alive chained on the terrace. Animal activists had then said that he was found in a depressed state who was running high on fever.

A police statement said some handwritten notes were found in the house "which point towards observance of some definite spiritual/mystical practices by the whole family".

As per the sources, the post-mortem reports of 10 people out of 11 confirmed that they all died due to hanging giving more facts to the police theory that there was no outsider involved in the incident and they all allegedly committed suicide.

One of the doctors, who conducted the autopsy, stated that the bodies of the ten family members bore no injury marks or any signs of struggle indicating that they all hung themselves. Sources added that so far they had not seen any sign of poisoning, however, the viscera report is awaited.

The initial post-mortem report of Narayan Devi had suggested that she died due to partial hanging. Devi was found in a separate room with her face down. Police sources had suggested she had also hung herself and the belt broke down leading to her fall.
