UGC-NET Results 2018: CBSE likely to announce UGC-NET results on July 31, check details

After the central government's decision to replace the University Grants Commission (UGC) with another apex higher education regulator this shall be the last edition of the UGC-NET to be conducted by the CBSE.

After the central government's decision to replace the University Grants Commission (UGC) with another higher education regulator this shall be the last edition of the UGC-NET to be conducted by the CBSE. However, the CBSE board is all set to create a record by declaring the result in just 23 days after the exam was conducted. CBSE had conducted the UGC-NETexam for 2018 on July 8 and plans to announce the results on 31st July. UGC-NET Results for 2018 will be declared on the official website cbsenet.nic.in.

The results for University Grants Commission's National Eligibility Test has always been a tough wait for the candidates. Generally, the average time for the declaration of the UGC-NET results in the past has been varying from three to five months. According to CBSE source, "The Board is working towards releasing the results by the end of the month, and most likely on July 31, 2018, is all goes as planned. However, it is confirmed that the results will be out latest by August 4, which will be within one month on the conduct of the exam." 

UGC NET 2018:

In 2018, a total of 11.48 lakh candidates took the eligibility test across 91 cities. The UGC-NET examination was conducted in 84 different subjects. There were over 2000 examination centres across the country with a total number of 2864 observers and 675 Board's officials deputed to oversee the conduct of the exam. For the first this year, the UGC-NET exam had two papers instead of 3. National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct this exam from next year onwards. According to the UGC policy 6 per cent of the candidates appeared in both the papers who obtain minimum qualifying marks in aggregate of both papers will be declared NET qualified. 

Centre to replace UGC:

Lately, the Modi government has proposed to replace the University Grants Commission (UGC) with another apex higher education regulator that will focus solely on academic matters with powers to enforce quality standards. Non-compliance could result in fines or a jail sentence, which may extend up to three years. The commission will also form regulations about closing and opening of new institutions, says the Centre's draft Act.

About the NET:

The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research. The Test is conducted in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science.
