A Raja used to shout at telecom secretary: Ex-aide

Blaming former telecom minister A Raja for not following the advice of retired telecom secretary DS Mathur while deciding the spectrum allocation, Aseervartham Achary, former additional secretary to the minister told the CBI court that intense fights took place between them frequently over the licences of spectrum.

Achary’s revelations came while his cross-examination was going on before CBI special judge OP Saini and said, “The incident of shouting by the minister (Raja) and DS Mathur took place in his camp office, at his residence.” Narrating the incident, Achary said, “I heard the arguments when I was in my cabin when I heard it and on this, I entered the room. I heard the voice of Raja at the top of the pitch while that of Mathur at the lowest tone.”

“During November-December 2007, I could see that a rift was growing between Raja and Mathur and Raja himself told me about it. ” Achary said.

Meanwhile, the court rejected the plea of Unitech MD Sanjay Chandra, facing trial in the 2G case, to go abroad for treatment of his 9-year-old son.
