The advisory includes information on blockage and restrictions on roads and which metro station to alight on if one has to enter the stadium through a particular gate.
Delhi police today came out with an advisory for those headed to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for the closing ceremony of Commonwealth Games, saying it has learnt lessons from the difficulties faced by spectators during the inaugural extravaganza.
Its advisory includes information on blockage and restrictions on roads and which metro station to alight on if one has to enter the stadium through a particular gate.
Police sought to put the blame on the Games organising committee for the problems faced by spectators who went to watch the October 3 opening ceremony, saying there were no specific instructions for people on how to reach the stadium and which route to take.
"We have learnt our lessons from the difficulties faced by people. Now, we have come out with specific instructions for people from where to enter the stadium though it was supposed to be in the ticket," Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic), told reporters in the capital.
There were three metro stations -- Jorbagh, JLN and Jangpura -- near the stadium and for example, if someone has to enter the stadium through Gate No 6, he has to get down at Jorbagh station and not any other station.
Garg said many people had alighted at wrong stations on the day of the opening.
"We never saw the ticket before. First time we saw it was on the morning of October 3. We are admitting that there are some communication gaps. We thought that ticket will have some information about how to reach the particular gate," he said.
Public with tickets can enter the stadium through Gates 6, 9 and 14. For those who hold tickets for entry through Gate No 6, they should alight at Jorbagh station from where there will be DTC shuttle service.
For Gate 9, one should get down at Jangpura station while for Gate 14, the metro station is JLN Stadium. "You will face difficulty in entering the stadium if you get down at the wrong station," Garg said.
Police have also come out with an advisory for the marathon race on Thursday morning in the heart of the capital.
The race will be held on a 10.5km route on Rajpath, Janpath, Rajendra Prasad Road, Red Cross Road, Parliament Street, Outer and Inner Circus Connaught Place, Minto Road and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.
Vehicles will be blocked at South Fountain, Rafi Marg, Janpath, Rajpath, Rajendra Prasad Road, Ashoka Road, Raisina Road, Tolstoy Marg, Outer and Inner Circus Connaught Place, Barakhamba Road, DDU Marg, Jahangir Road, Bhav Bhuti Marg, State Entry Road, Jai Singh Road, Imtiaz Khan Marg and Talkatora Road for movement towards competition routes.
