I have not received official communication of my suspension: Ambati Rambabu

Andhra Pradesh Congress general secretary Ambati Rambabu, who has been suspended from party by the leadership, today said he has not received any official communication over the matter.

"I came to know from the media and friends that I have been suspended from party with immediate effect. I have not received any communication from AICC general secreary, in-charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh Veerappa Moily or state Congress leadership or any other responsible person. I can only respond about it after finding out the truth," Rambabu, a close aide of Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, told reporters.

He said he was surprised about the reports of suspension as the disciplinary committee of APCC gave him time till July 31 to respond to the charges made against him.

He said he has been in Congress for the last 20 years and always functioned as a loyal and committed party activist. Asked if he saw the suspension as an indirect warning to the Jagan camp in the ongoing tussle between party leadership and the young MP, he said, "Do you think so. May be".

A statement from AICC in charge of Andhra Pradesh Veerappa Moily said last night that Rambabu has been suspended with "immediate effect for his anti-party activities and making anti-party statements".    

Rambabu was recently summoned before the party's disciplinary committee to explain his outburst against chief minister K Rosaiah.

Quoting the party constitution, he had demanded additional time for replying to the allegations.
