Mohammad Sheikh, who was reported to be tense about the project he had to submit and his failure in exams in the previous semester, committed suicide on Wednesday afternoon.
He was not Joy of the hit Bollywood film, 3 Idiots, but an engineering student in real life. However, after failing in his exams, he committed suicide in exactly the same manner as the actor in the film and wrote, as his last words, the words that were written by the character in the film.
Mohammad Sheikh, who was reported to be tense about the project he had to submit and his failure in exams in the previous semester, committed suicide on Wednesday afternoon. He hanged himself at his home in Juhapura when he was alone in the house. His two-page suicide note starts with the two words: 'I QUIT.' In the note, he has also asked people to see his mobile phone for a video clip.
"The exact reason why he committed suicide is not known but there may be some record of it in his mobile phone. We will see it and then disclose the reason for his suicide," said police officer Giriraj Sinh of Vejalpur police station. "His body was found by his mother hanging from the ceiling fan." Sinh is the investigating officer of the case.
Sinh further said that the police had also seized Mohammad's laptop, mobile phone, pen drive and the two-page suicide note. He also wrote in the note: "My dear mom and dad, please forgive me. I know that to commit suicide is a crime."
A fourth-semester student of electronics and communication at Excel Engineering College, Kalol, Mohammad has also asked his family members in the suicide note to submit his project report to his college teachers. Though the police have not revealed the exact reason for the suicide, Mohammad's relatives and neighbours told DNA that he was upset as he had failed in his exams in the third semester.
His father, Imtiyaz Sheikh, is a government employee. He is posted at Sachivalaya as undersecretary in the Panchayat department. His mother is a teacher at FD High School in Jamalpur. Mohammad's body was taken to VS Hospital for post-mortem. The Vejalpur police have recorded a case of 'accidental death' in this connection.
