The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to move Supreme Court to recover its dues amounting to Rs 3,680 crore pending with the neighbouring state of Punjab on account of the denial of power, water sharing from Thein Dam and failure to build up Shahpur Kandi barrage on river river Ravi.    

"We will approach the Supreme Court to recover the dues amounting to Rs 3,680 crore from Punjab Government over failure to give us power and water from Thein Dam and also losses occurred due to failure to build Shahpur Kandi barrage," the minister for Irrigation, Flood Control and Public Health Engineering Taj Mohi-ud-Din said here today.

As many as Rs 2,180 crore pending with Punjab on account of denial of power share of 20 percent for past 10 years from Thein Dam power project and Rs 1,500 crore loss on account of failure to build Shahpur Kandi Barrage on river Ravi in Kathua district, Taj said.
    
He said that due to denial of irrigation water to farmers in the state, it has suffered a loss of nearly Rs 1,500 crore so far.
