Services were temporarily disrupted on the metro's Dwarka line during the morning rush hour today after a man jumped in front of a train at Janakpuri East station in an apparent suicide attempt.

The alert staff, however, rescued the 52-year-old man, who has not been identified, after he jumped in front of the train which was moving towards Noida City Centre from the Janakpuri East metro station at 8.15am.

"The train operator immediately applied the emergency brakes and the person was rescued by DMRC officials . He has been sent to the DDU Hospital for treatment," a DMRC spokesman said.

After necessary checks, the Metro services on the corridor resumed. The incident led to delay in services on the Line 3 (Dwarka Sec9-Noida City Centre/Anand Vihar) for about 30 minutes.  Line 3 is the most crowded corridor of the DMRC and over six lakh people travel on it everyday.

"Prima facie, the incident may have been a case of attempted suicide. However, the police is investigating it further," the spokesman said.

The DMRC runs over 50 trains on the line and will add more before the Commonwealth Games in October.
