Manmohan Singh in name, not in power: BJP's Prakash Javadekar

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday ridiculed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for once more projecting his "weak and helpless image" while interacting with the national electronic media in New Delhi. Voicing these allegations, national spokersperson of BJP who was in visit to Gujarat, Prakash Javadekar said, "Manmohan Singh may be holding the powerful post, but does not have any." Javdekar lambasted the PM over the issue of shifting the onus of 3G spectrum corruption stating that it was the "limitation of the coalition government."

Javadekar said, "Indians hoped to hear some new message, determination and new programmes. However, Singh only presented his weakness and helpnessness before the nation. If Singh was tied by the fact that the telecom minister from DMK, A Raja was part of the coalition government, was there any coaliltion in the C'Wealth Games scam too? Weren't Suresh Kalmadi and Sheila Dixit too from the Congress party?" asked an agitated Javadekar.

The national spokersperson also reiterated BJP's long-standing demand that the UPA government should constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) with regard to the 3G scam, and also bring back the black money lying in the Swiss banks and take actions to solve the cases of corruption.

While referring to statement by Manmohan Singh that the BJP's demand for JPC is only a retaliation of Congress's strong stand against Gujarat's minister (Amit Shah), Javadekar said, "The demand for a constituting a JPC is not only made by the BJP. Other allies and non-allied parties of the National Democratic Front (NDA) have also demanded for it. In fact, the UPA government should form a JPC as over 50% members of the parliament are demanding for it," he added.
