State health minister Jaynarayan Vyas said that, as a preventive measure, it had been decided to give a 10-day course of Tamiflu to all those who had come in contact with the CM recently. He said the course would be administered as per the latest guidelines of the World Health Organisation.

“The state health department is taking every possible measure for the CM’s well being,” Vyas said. “A team of five senior doctors are keeping watch on his health round the clock. I, along with the people of Gujarat, wish him speedy recovery.’’

On Thursday, Modi had met all the 17 ministers of the state cabinet during a 3-hour meeting. He had also met several senior secretaries of different departments, and officials of the chief minister’s office (CMO) too. Modi had met visitors till late on Thursday evening.

The CM returned from Russia on Wednesday after a 3-day tour of that nation. He was accompanied by chief secretary D Rajagopalan; principal secretary, energy & petrochemicals, Jagdishan; and the managing director of the GSPC, DJ Pandian.

Industry leaders such as Sudhir Mehta of Torrent Group, Pranav Adani of Adani Group, Jayesh Buch of Essar Group, Nitin Shukla of Shell Hazira Group and some other important businessmen of the state had also accompanied Modi to Russia. Sources said that all those who had gone with him to Russia had been tested for swine flu but no one had tested H1N1 positive.
