If you are one of those who had packed their woollen clothes away thinking winter is gone, well it is time to get them out of the cupboard. For, temperatures have taken a dip both in the district and the state. Even as Ahmedabad registered 12 degree Celsius on Tuesday, Naliya in Kutch recorded its lowest temperature this winter at 5 degree Celsius.

The meteorological department in Ahmedabad has forecasted a possible cold wave for Kutch and Saurashtra in the coming days. As temperatures dipped in the city on Tuesday, woollens were brought out of the cupboards and air conditioners and fans switched off.

"The day was pretty hot and so I did not expect the night to be so cold. Now, I am down with fever as I travelled all the way from office to home without any woollen clothes on Tuesday night," said Vikrant Jain, a professional.   Met department has forecasted a further dip in minimum temperature in the city to 11 degree Celsius.

However, it also said that weather will mainly remain sunny in all districts of Gujarat state and in Diu, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

Meanwhile, the sudden change in weather will bring a cheer to mango farmers as it helps in mango flowering.  MC Varshneya, vice-chancellor of Anand Agricultural University, said the cold wave is good

for mango crop. "Since the flowering has already taken place, the winter winds will actually help the crops grow stronger. The only danger is if the weather turns stormy," said Varshneya.
