Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today stressed the need for carrying out survey and extraction by archaelogists in Bodh Gaya, on a four-day sojourn to the key Buddhist pilgrim centre.

The chief minister went to Kurkihar under Wazirganj block in Gaya district promising to connect Kurkihar with the Buddhist crcuit.

Kumar said, "History of humanity is hidden in the area which requires thorough research, survey and extraction by experts."

He also visited Sujatagarh, Dharmanhar and Dhudeshwari and develop the area.

Later, addressing a public meeting, Kumar said the area which he visited had lots of historical importance and it would be connected with the Buddhist circuit.

He said apart from developing the state in other sectors, special attention was being paid on tourism which would be further developed as an industry in the state.

Kumar noted that the inflow of toursists in Bihar had now tremendously increased to 3.5 lakh this year from 90,000 in 2006. “We have to strive hard for further increasing

the inflow of toursists to fetch revenue”, he added.

Earlier, Kumar paid obeisance at the famous Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya and visited several other places to explore possibilities of development.
