'Pollkshetra': Left wants Right out of Gujarat

Communist Party of India (Marxist Leninist), Jan Sangharsh Manch (JSM), New Socialist Movement and Trade Union Centre of India have joined hands and will contest Gujarat assembly polls under a common platform, Democratic Peoples’ Forum (dpf).

“We are here to campaign for the people of Gujarat. We are going to highlight the evils of development and capitalist policies of the state government. We are launching a movement which talks about labour and middle class families,” general secretary of CPIL (ML) and convenor of DPF, KN Ramchandran said.

DPF is planning to contest elections in a few constituencies. “We will contest but number of seats and its modalities will be decided later. Right now our focus is to highlight issues facing the common man,” Ramchandran added.

Mukul Sinha of JSM said, “Gujarat has moved too far right – in capitalist way. Does this development benefit all, does the policies and governance is really for the people are some of the questions we are going to raise,” Sinha said.

The DPF will be holding a public rally in city on Wednesday. The rally will be attended by members of different trade unions and leaders and workers from AP, Karnataka, Kerala and West Bengal.
