Punjab cabinet anguished over Sikh killings in Pakistan

Taking a serious note of the gruesome killing of two Sikhs by Talibans in Pakistan, the Punjab Cabinet today expressed grave concern over insecurity of minorities in that country.
    
In a unanimous resolution, the cabinet chaired by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal asked the Centre to mobilise international public opinion against the incident and focus global attention on the plight of the minorities in general and Sikhs in particular in Pakistan.

The Cabinet appealed to prime minister Manmohan Singh to take up the issue with his Pakistan counterpart and make it a
priority item in any future dialogue with that country.

Condemning the incident, the meeting described it as an "outrage against humanity and all civilised norms of behaviour", an official release said.

Meanwhile, the local unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) staged a protest in the main market complex here against the killings and burnt the effigy of Taliban.

NS Minhas, President of the unit, said Sikhs in Pakistan, particularly those in Peshawar and other tribal areas, are not safe. They should be granted visa by India so that they can return here and live in peace.
