Even as the Shashi Tharoor issue continues to hog limelight, BJP today said it had not lost sight of the aam admi and asserted it would make its April 21 public meeting and subsequent march to Parliament against price rise a grand success.

"The rally is to shake Sonia-Manmohan government from their slumber and act on the aam admi's plight. The rally will be historical in the capital and the mammoth mobilisation will show the anger in the minds of the people," BJP general secretary, Ananth Kumar, told reporters.

He accused the UPA government of arrogance and lacking sensitivity towards the plight of the common man.

BJP has mobilised all its state units for the rally.

Kumar claimed that party supporters would reach the capital by more than 30 special trains and more than 6,000 buses.

Party president Nitin Gadkari has asked his cadres and top brass to gather 10 lakh people for the rally.

"Our supporters from Southern states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh as well as Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands will take part. From Kutch to Kohima and Kashmir to Kanyakumari, lakhs of people will participate in the Sansad Chalo rally," Kumar claimed.

Neighbouring states have specially been sounded out for bringing people in big numbers.

This being Gadkari's first rally as president, the party has made it a prestige issue.

Kumar said apart from the rally, BJP will continue to take on the government inside Parliament as well over these issues.

"We will bring cut motions on increase in diesel and petrol prices. After a month the five crore signatures of people against price rise will also be submitted to the President," he said.

Kumar assured that the rally will be peaceful and BJP workers will be disciplined throughout the exercise.

Information handbooks will be given to BJP supporters and three party control rooms are being set-up.

"Our demand is that petroleum prices should be rolled-back and a Joint Parliamentary Committee should be formed for investigating the mahaghotala which led to increase in prices of rice, wheat, sugar and pulses," Kumar said.

He demanded to put an end to futures trading in essential commodities.
