As we get down to celebrate the festive season with much fervour and enthusiasm, our netas on the other hand will celebrate the festival by attending to party workers and performing their political duties.

On the one hand Gujarat's chief minister Narendra Modi will get down to work on the new jilla and taluka panchayat appointments, the Congress leaders on the other hand will be busy fire fighting workers' concerns in their respective constituencies.

"The CM will visit his mother and sister in Gandhinagar on the New Year day. Besides this, he is also to meet party workers and well wishers at his bungalow in Gandhinagar. He may also go to watch the Test match at Motera, but will probably use the holidays in analysing the election results," said a source.

The CM will offer prayers at Panchdev temple in Gandhinagar and will interact with people early morning on Sunday after which he will visit the Bhadrakali temple in Ahmedabad.

After this, Modi will attend a gathering at Circuit House in Shahibaug and later will grace the gathering of Gujarat police officials at the Officers' Mess.

Most of the BJP leaders plan to celebrate Diwali with their families in their respective constituencies. State president RC Faldu will observe a silent Diwali because of a kin's demise. MP Vijay Rupani, Parindu Bhagat and Surendra Patek will enjoy the festivities at home.

With the Congress reeling under the recent defeat in all the three elections, the party leaders would keep a low profile and spend time either travelling with the family or meeting supporters at home. Former deputy CM Narhari Amin plans to go to an island for a vacation. Shaktisinh Gohil and Siddharth Patel and Arjun Modhwadia will celebrate and spend time in their respective constituencies.
