CBI maintains studied silence over recovery of the mobile phone by Delhi police stating that the probe was in progress in consonance with Supreme Court directions.
Uttar Pradesh police today said it did not have any information about any arrest from Bulandshahr by the Delhi police in the Aarushi murder case. "I am neither confirming nor denying the arrest of anyone from Bulandshahr by the Delhi police crime branch team. They have not given any information to the state police so far," additional director general (law and order) A K Jain said.
Jain told reporters that CBI was investigating the case and the state police would assist it in all ways. In a major breakthrough, the Delhi police had yesterday claimed to have recovered the mobile phone of Aarushi from one Ramphool.
More than 16 months after Aarushi and her domestic help were found murdered at her Noida home, Special Operations Squad (SOS) of Delhi police's crime branch recovered the mobile phone from Bulandshahr on Saturday and has detained one person in this connection.
CBI today maintained a studied silence over the recovery of the mobile phone by Delhi police and sent the instrument to a forensic laboratory to verify whether it belonged to her.CBI spokesperson Harsh Bahal declined to confirm or deny whether the premier investigating agency had got the mobile from Delhi Police. The instrument that could give some clues has been missing since the sensational double murder in Noida.
"The probe is in progress and in consonance with the Supreme Court directions, CBI does not wish to share with the media any information about the case as it could hamper the investigation," Bahal said.
Aarushi's mother Nupur Talwar said the recovery of the mobile has given a "ray of hope" to nab the culprits.
A senior police official said the Crime Branch got the IMEI number of Aarushi's mobile from records procured for probe in a criminal case "We were looking for a particular number when suddenly our surveillance system flashed that one of the mobiles was active. That particular one was not related to our case but as we found that one was active, we collected the details.
"To our surprise, we found that it was that of Aarushi and our team conducted investigations last week and tracked it down. It took around two to three days," he said, adding that they found it was active since February.
