An FIR has been registered by Bihar Vigilance Bureau against a senior IAS officer and former commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation K Senthil Kumar and 13 others for allegedly causing loss of Rs 8.77 crore to the civic body, official sources said today.

The FIR registered at Vigilance police station here last evening alleged that Senthil, now director of Census Operations, worked with the land and building mafia for personal benefit.

Sanctions of altogether 130 buildings were given during his tenure by compromising the required safety and basic amenities.

He and other officials have also been charged for corruption in purchase of two-way communication sets, street lights, pumps for solid waste managements, spending more on bio-metric cards and awarding work contracts to an infrastructure company in violation of norms, the sources said.
