Indian Warship INS Chennai Returns After Rescuing Hijacked Ship MV Lila Norfolk Of Somalia Coast

Indian Navy Ship, INS Chennai which rescued the hijacked vessel of the cost Somalia earlier in January reached Chennai port on Feb 16. The Indian Navy's marine commandos rescued 21 crew members, including 15 Indians, from the hijacked Liberian-flagged vessel MV Lila Norfolk on January 6, 2024. The crew members were rescued in a swift operation in the North Arabian Sea after armed pirates attempted to hijack the vessel. INS Chennai is equipped with lethal weapons and a precision-guided missile system. INS Chennai is the third ship of the Kolkata class built in India. It is the largest destroyer 164vmeters 7500 tons. INS Chennai has surface to Air missile placed, Rador, Active phase Rador, Median and close-range gun mount for above water entities. On the Marine Commandos (MARCOS) and Helicopters used for operations during rescue missions.
