Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) chief Sachin Pilot took a jibe on the tussle going on in the BJP over the appointment of a new party chief for the state. Pilot also accused the Vasundhara Raje government for centralising powers in the state which, he alleged, left people's representatives in lurch.

"The BJP will get no benefit in changing its state chief. The party is off the track, and is going to be defeated in the Assembly polls," he said while addressing a gathering of party workers and leaders in a conference held on the occasion of the National Panchayatiraj Divas.

He said, "BJP's policy has left Sarpanch, Pradhan, MLAs and ministers helpless due to centralisation of powers. Democracy is the strength of this country but it is in danger as the government is busy in political gains instead of serving the people."

Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, Congress spokesperson and Jaipur district congress president, on the other hand threatened to file a law suit against BJP ministers and leaders for allegedly promoting caste-conflict while debating over appointment of new BJP state party chief. Many leaders belonging to the saffron party over caste equations on the appointment which is vacant since Ashok Parnami resigned.

"The leaders are debating suitability of the candidature of leaders belonging to Jat and Rajputs, which indeed is instigating people for caste conflicts. Their statement that Jat and Rajputs are political opponents is a blatant lie. I condemn such statements, and am considering to file a law suit against the leaders involved in making instigating remarks if they are not stopped," Khachariawas said, adding that he would be doing it in personal capacity.

The city party head further alleged that remarks of the saffron party leaders are deliberated to reap political gains ahead of Rajasthan assembly election slated in the final quarter of the year. "In Rajasthan, people belonging to all castes and creed live in harmony and peace but the BJP making such statement is trying to cash vested political interests." Meanwhile, in the presence of Pilot, BJP leaders and Ex-MLAs Suresh Choudhary and Durgaprasad Agarwal took membership of the party at the PCC headquarters.

Other allegations

The Rajasthan Congress chief also accused the Vasundhara Raje government of centralising powers and playing caste politics over the appointment of new party chief in the state.
