A protest march taken out by Congress against misuse of government coffers and machinery in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Jaipur rally, turned out to be a show of strength of Assembly ticket aspirants on Monday. Supporters of more than a dozen leaders seeking tickets were witnessed showing banners of the constituencies they wish to fight.

Congress leaders after taking out foot march from PCC headquarters to Civil Lines met the state governor Kalyan Singh and handed him a memorandum addressing the President Ramnath Kovind. A probe into the alleged misuse of government funds in the PM’s July 7 rally has been sought with it.

The march led by the PCC chief Sachin Pilot started at 11.30 as the workers, leaders could not assemble at the scheduled time of 11 am. As it proceeded further, rain disrupted and the workers were scattered for a while near the Government Hostel. The march ended at Civil Lines Phatak where Pilot made a scathing attack on Raje government for making Modi’s rally a political programme.

“If BJP had strength, then it would have organised the rally on itself and would not have used government machinery and resources. Nearly 150 farmers have committed suicides but the CM and his ministers are deceiving the people in the name of holding dialogues for past 4 years. The entire system in the government is corrupt and people have taken the decision to vote it out in the assembly election,” said Pilot.

The march proved to be a show of strength of aspirants seeking tickets. Over a dozen leaders including Satyendra Bhardwaz (Amber), Babulal Nagar (Dudu), Rajiv Arora (Adarsh Nagar), Archana Sharma, Sushil Sharma and KK Haritwal (Malviya Nagar), Jyoti Khandelwal and Amin Kagzi (Kishanpole), Pratap Singh Khachariyawas (Civil Lines), Harish Yadav (Jhotwara) and Umradaraz (Adarsh Nagar) took part in the march while their supporters were flaring banners of the constituencies they wish to fight. It is worth mentioning here that block, ward heads were given a target to assemble workers at the march to make it successful.

Post to the march, a delegation led by Jaipur district Congress president Pratap Singh Khachariyawas met the governor and submitted a memorandum.
