From South Africa with love...

The Big Bang DJ Festival, to be held on December 4, promises to be a show of musical grandeur and interactive action. The one-day event which will be on from noon to night will feature international DJs who will play the latest music and promises Bangaloreans a happening musical journey from noon to night. We spoke to DJ Vanessa Holliday, from Cape Town South Africa, who will be playing for the first time in India at the Big Bang Festival in Bangalore.

What kind of music will you be playing at Festival?
I play progressive house with uplifting vocals and massive bass line, infused with female vocals as well. I will also be playing my music with the help of latest technology with the Traktor S4 DJ equipment.

How did you get decide to be a part of this Festival?

I am a part of the DJ community at Groovefunk, which is involved in conceptualising this event. They sent me a request to perform and since this was my first opportunity to do so in India, I was very excited to be a part of the entire thing. I am looking forward to keeping the crowds up at the festival.

Tell us something about your journey to becoming an international DJ.
I have been a DJ since eight years now. I was a dancer before that till I decided to get into serious DJing. Back home in South Africa I also host a radio show and I am also currently involved with producing music.

You have been playing in some Bangalore pubs as a warm up to the Big Bang Festival. How has the response been?
Bangaloreans are very open to any kind of music. Trance however is a favourite among the crowds here.

Do you think music sensibilities around the world differ, or does it bring everyone together?
Music I think brings everyone together. It is a means for people to enjoy themselves and have a good time, where they can dance till they drop. And that emotion is same all over the globe.
Be at the Big Bang DJ Festival; tonight at Fuga, 8pm onwards
