In a day and age when the gloom of recession is pervading most facets of life, finding friendship or love online might just be a good proposition. While online dating sites are buzzing with the internet frat, and are a great medium to reach out to people, it’s also wise to play safe and maintain an online decorum which will make sure that you do not fall into trouble. VJ Anu Menon says, “Making friends and reconnecting with old friends on networking sites is great but I would rather date the old fashion way and that is to actually meet the person. I do not agree with the concept of getting stuck in the virtual world. In fact, I would recommend people to stay away from it because for all you know, you might be actually chatting with an 80-year-old grandmother who is talking away with you while she’s doing her knitting.”

Young singer Anushka Manchanda opines that girls need to be more careful than boys. “It is fun to harmlessly flirt online. But please do not put yourself in danger by giving away your phone number or your residential address,” warns Anushka. She continues, “It is very easy for anybody to get emotionally involved but do not ever go to meet that person alone. One must let online
dating just be for fun’s sake and not take it to another level.”

Rahul Basu, a media consultant has a happy story to narrate with his online dating experience. “Thankfully for me, things worked out right. I did meet a girl after chatting with her online and we are good friends now.” Rahul also has a tip to share. He says, “Never lie about who you actually are and how you look. This will just put you in the spot if at all you decide to meet the person sometime.”
