Here’s a lowdown on the way women raid the male wardrobe to arrive at something refreshing, quirky and yet stylish.
The woman of today is definitely on equal footing with her male counterpart, if not ahead of him. And the same applies to using products. Certain products that started out as ‘male products’ are being used by a number of women today, who aren’t inhibited about adding a little twist to their usual ‘feminine’ routine. DNA caught up with some women who didn’t mind treading this unusual path...
Sheetal Sharma, fashion choreographer
I personally love my husband’s cologne. I’m especially partial to Boss and Diesel for men. I think it adds a nice surprise element and is a welcome change from the usual range of perfumes available for women. It just makes me feel really good. Another product I love using is his face scrub, the Lab series, on my elbows because I think the exfoliant in their products is stronger and does a better job.
Tanvi Singla, model
As far as clothes are concerned, I love oversized, chequered shirts, and use plenty of my brother’s. If you just tie a knot at the end and wear them with fitted denims and heels, it creates a really stylish but comfortable look. I really like the whole boyfriend jeans look too. I think Victoria Beckham wears that look really well. And another male product I love using is the Axe chocolate, because I think it smells great.
Dayana Errapa, model
A male product I really wouldn’t mind using is cologne. I love Burberry London for men, because I think it just smells really good and it’s a huge turn on. So I would love smelling like that too.
Michelle Salins, designer
Once in a while maybe I’ll wear a sporty men’s tee-shirt, just because I like the style and I think it wears well. I would personally not wear a men’s perfume since I think we have enough in the market for women. Also, I think if you want to dress up, a tie and a men’s waistcoat over a white top can look really smart.
Faith Pandey, model
I do wear men’s T-shirts sometimes. I’m a fan of the DC Comic shirts, like the ones with superman or batman, just to get kind of a quirky look. I use men’s perfume sometimes too; I like the nice musky smell that’s not too overpowering. I also enjoy men’s watches, the sporty models which are a bit unconventional and add to the quirky element.
Jennifer Kotwal, actor
I sometimes use my dad’s perfume, since it’s a bit stronger than women’s and it stays on for longer too. I also like to wear guy’s watches with the big dials, just because I like the way it looks.
Sangeetha Raj, stylist
I like the crisp white men’s shirts. And I believe a lot of women like men’s perfume, since they feel women’s might be a too strong and fruity. I enjoy big men’s watches and belts as well. Men’s linen pants can be very comfortable too, and it can look very good on women.
