After the fiasco at Mumbai's fashion week last season, every thing seems to be hunky-dory this time.

The week was panned for glamour overshadowing trade and Delhi-based designers getting prominence over their Mumbai counterparts. However, the organisers seem to have got their act together as big designers who stayed away from the event last year, are now back.

Says designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed about his return to  the fashion week, "Problems cropped up with the change in management, but they are working to resolve them now. Better opportunities are being made available for upcoming designers. Also, the primary cause of the event — business — is back in focus. It was a good event that had gone astray. I kept away because when there’s no business in a fashion event, then there is no point in doing a show. But the focus is back on business now and therefore I am back."

Designer Neeta Lulla added, "I do one season every year so I am back. Nothing else.” But the designer was among those to point out the stepmotherly treatment meted out to Mumbai designers. “I also agree that there is step-motherly treatment given to Mumbai designers which is not right," she had said then.

On the other hand designer Wendell Rodricks, who was upset with the week’s organisers last season, said he is doing a sponsored show this time and will refrain from giving any comment.

Anil Chopra, CEO, Lakme Lever said, "I am happy to confirm that Nachiket Barve, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Neeta Lulla and Wendell Rodricks are participating in the LFW Winter/Festive 2011. We understand that a designer’s decision to participate at a fashion week is based on their annual business plans and thus they cannot necessarily take part in every season of a fashion week. Fashion Week is a national trade event and this season we have almost equal number of designers participating from Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and other cities."

Most designers who are back are apparently keeping an eye on LFW to see if it’s really focussing on business as promised.
