I have travelled to London quite a few times and London, being one of the most exciting cities in the world, holds you and keeps you, rarely allowing you to venture forth into other parts of the UK, except perhaps the usual Manchester, Leeds, Leicester and Birmingham.
This time I decided to do everything differently. I decided to tackle the bucket-list dedicated to England. Shakespeare’s town Stratford Upon Avon, Canterbury, as many shows at London’s West End and other theatres, Cambridge, the Nottinghill Carnival, Dover’s White Cliffs and Dover Castle and all those places I have loved in movies or read about in books.
In the first part of my drive through England I visited the breathtaking Dover Whitecliffs. Dover Castle comes up first and it is the perfect walk thorough medieval England, with stage actors enacting life as it must have been in those days, allowing me to participate in their plays, climbing the turrets on the highest parts of the castle, walking through dungeons, to almost being blown away near the catapults with strong winds...fun!
And yet nothing prepares you for the beauty of the white limestone cliffs of Dover, rolling green country- side falling away steeply into the White Cliffs of Dover.
Canterbury is the nearest other town and has the best Mexican food and the stunning Canterbury Castle. These are pure sightseeing and nature trails and are worth visiting over and over.
The next day was the start of the Nottinghill Festival or Carnival and nothing could be more other-worldly in the middle of London.

Chiplunkar took me to a party that was worth the money for sure! Was a toughie for vegetarians but I did find great food to eat. All in all a long day, but one well spent.
