Unwinding in Mauritius: Karan Grover

It couldn’t have been a better birthday present for actor Karan Grover as his recent trip to Mauritius had him doing what he was hoping to try someday. “Skydive,” he grins. “I have a very hectic schedule shooting my TV show on Zee TV, so I seldom get time to take trips. But since on my birthday every year I try and
do something new or something I really want and this time I wanted to sky dive — it all turned out to be super!”

Enjoying the vistas
He says, “I had heard Mauritius had the most scenic unspoiled countryside and it couldn’t be truer. I saw some of the most beautiful beaches here. They say this place offers a varied topography and I can confirm that. From spas to the Casela bird park and islands like Gabriel, Ile aux Cerfs island and Port Louis, everything was beautiful, not to forget the beautiful drives between sugarcane fields,” he informs.

He stayed at a place that offered a great view of the water. “What made the trip welcoming from the start is that the people were very sweet and welcoming,” he informs, adding, “After asking around I just hired a bike as that is most affordable and fun. You may need a car too, as the rains are unpredictable!”
 
Jungle safaris and wild rides
For an adventure lover like him, Karan was thrilled with the options available. “I particularly liked the fact that Mauritius is a complete destination, with water sports — scuba and deep sea ACTV, sky
diving,  jungle safaris, trekking in the river, quad safari and segway rides, I did all of them. I even walked with lions which was such fun.

“It’s all a little expensive, but worth it,” he adds.

Eating out
“Mauritius serves great cuisine and I especially loved the spicy preparations,” he says. “A place called Banana Bar had me going back again and again for the food!”

Karan clicked pictures to make for keepsakes and plans to go back soon. “It’s so tranquil, it’s mesmerising,” he smiles.
