It charts its course through this state. This mystic land of hills and rivers is renowned for its tea, rich flora and fauna, the famous one horned rhinoceros and other rare species of wildlife on the verge of extinction. Barring Africa, there is perhaps no part of the world where such a variety of wildlife exists.”
He adds, “The national park of Kaziranga has dense rolling grassland and thick forests and should be your first stop. Nameri is a must-visit for bird lovers. The next stop has to be the Manas National Park, the only Tiger Project in Assam. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site.”
Kaziranga National Park
“After reaching Guwahati, this should be your first destination in Assam. This is the home of the one horn rhino. And the night safari here is a must-see. The place is has a variety of wildlife, thanks to the tall grass lands of the forest. Once here you get an opportunity to go around the jungle on an elephant.”
A visit to the nearby tribal village is worth all the time. Kaziranga has also has a few jungle resorts, so you could choose to stay there too.
Rafting on Jia Bhorolee
