In the wake of the floods in Chennai that has brought the city to its knees, pushing banks, companies, offices, shops, restaurants and even manufacturing plants to pull their shutter down, ICICI Bank has said that it will not levy any penalty for delayed EMI payments for the month of November. 

The bank also said that it will waiver any charges in case a cheque bounces in the same period. 

"ICICI Bank will not levy any penalty for its customers in Chennai for delay in EMI payments for the month of November. It will also waive off charges for cheque bounce in the same period," told dna

Chennai has witnessed the worst rainfall in nearly a 100 years, forcing the closure of its airports too. About six-seven emergency flights are operating out of the city's naval airbase -- INS Rajali. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently took stock of the situation, and announced an additional Rs 1,000 crore relief package for the state to tackle the flood situation. This was over and above the Rs 940 crore package already announced by his government.
