Indiachem ’09 hopes to woo buyers from 60 countries

The department of chemicals & petrochemicals, government of India, Gujarat government and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) are jointly organising INDIACHEM Gujarat 2009 the International Exhibition and Conference on Speciality Chemicals, Agro Chemicals and Colourants at Ahmedabad from December  12 to 14, 2009.

The event, supported by Industry Association including ICC, DMAI, IDMA, ISCMA and many others aims to generate volumes of business for the entire country.

Explaining the details of the event, minister of state for industry & finance, Saurabh Patel, said that even though the state has nation’s more than 40% chemical units, Gujarat has now got chance to host this mega event which has since its inception has been held only in Delhi and Mumbai. The event will help Gujarat’s industries to generate increased volume of business for the country.

“I am sure the event will generate never before business for buyers and sellers,” the minister said. Talking to media, the principal secretary industry & mines department, Gujarat, M Sahu,  said that representatives, buyers and sellers of around 60 countries are going to participate in the event. He further said that even if only 25 to 30% of the discussions that will take place in the event, gets converted into business deals, it will be a huge amount which will benefit industries both of the state as well as nation.

“We are also organising similar kind of event for the drugs & pharma industries in November and thereafter every month we will have one big event on important focused sector,” Sahu said. The event comprises international exhibition, conference on investment opportunities in Gujarat and international buyers and sellers meet during. A 2-day conference on ‘Gujarat - A New Gateway to International Possibility’ is also being organised.

The Indian Chemical Council will organise special sessions  on the benefits of responsible care and ecological and environmental issues on December 14.
