Enviro-Vigil to host three-day Environment film festival in Thane

With global warming leading to climatic changes, the future of our environment now depends upon environmental conservation. And to instill this knowledge among the current generation of students, an environment film festival has been organised by Enviro Vigil in Thane in December.

In the past few years we have witnessed many environmental changes. Monsoons are late and short, it is post diwali and winter has not arrived yet. All this is happening due to environmental pollution and subsequent global warming. To make the student community aware of these problems a three day film festival on environment will be held in Thane from December 7 to December 9.

What is interesting about this festival is that all the movies shown will highlight local problems of Thane. "For instance, Thane creek is full with plastics. So we will show a movie about it and have a discussion with students on how to keep the creek clean," says Bhagyashree Grampurohit, Enviro Vigil.

There will be 10 to 15 movies shown to school students of Class 7, 8 and 9 and junior college students. The movies will be of the duration of two to 10 minutes each. Besides waste management, the movies willbe about biodiverstity, water conservation, plastic pollution, etc., "After every movie there will be a parallel discussion with the children," says she. And there will also be talks about the activities of Enviro Vigil like their Ankur park at Kalwa, green shoppe at Dadoji Kondev Stadium, Thane.

The movies will be screened at Gadkari Rangayatan in two batches from 9am to 11am and 12 noon to 2pm for three days. Each batch will have two to three movie screenings and the entry is free.
