Mumbai Metro smart card and debit/credit is now rolled into one

Here comes the really smart card. Now your debit or credit card as well as the Metro fare card comes all rolled into one single card. The Mumbai Metro has introduced a debit/credit-smart card for Metro users.

Which banks is the card available with?
The Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL), a special purpose vehicle to operate the Metro in which Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) holds a majority stake, has tied up with two banks for the purpose. The Combo Card is available with the State Bank of India and ICICI Bank.

What are the benefits of the card?
"The facility is a leap towards the unified card system in urban transportation. This is the first such facility introduced by any urban transport system in Mumbai. The commuters will enjoy more seamless travel experience as it will save their time from queues and avoid the hassle of recalling the balance of the value stored in their cards," said a MMOPL spokesperson.

How does the card work?
In this card, whenever the fare balance - that si the currency in the smart card - dips below Rs50, it will be automatically reloaded with Rs200, and the amount will be deducted from the bank account linked with the card.

What other benefits does a user get?
Those opting or owning this Combo Card will continue to get fare discounts or benefits as any other Mumbai Metro smart card holder.

How can one obtain it?
This card can be procured through the respective bank branches or customer care or through Mumbai Metro's portal. Even kiosks will be set at at the metro stations for the same.
