Want to fight for transparency by using the most used Act by fellow Indians? Here's your opportunity. The department of civics and politics of University of Mumbai will be inaugurating a diploma course on the RTI Act on January 10, which will make it the first department in the country to do so.

dna had first reported about the course last year when an RTI convention was held. The biggest convention on RTI was held at the department of civics and politics. The suggestion for a course was then made by Mahiti Adhikar Manch, an organisation that works for RTI and it was promptly accepted by the department.

Called the Post Graduate Certificate Course in RTI, admissions for the six-month course are going on. "We have decided to have 40 seats but we can take more students depending on the response we get," said Prof. Surendra Jondhale of the department.

To be held on weekends, admissions are still open to graduates from any stream of education. On Saturdays, the course will be from 3pm to 5pm while on Sundays, it will be from 11am to 3 pm.
