A fire broke out on the 14th floor of a 26-storeyed high rise building in South Mumbai on Friday evening.
The Mont Blanc building, in which the fire broke out, is located near August Kranti Maidan, Kemps Corner.
According to fire control room, the fire broke out at around 7.33 pm.
"We have deployed around 25 vehicles on spot," said an official from control room.
The cause of fire is not yet known.
The fire is believed to be of Grade 2 intensity. Emergency calls were received at 7.50 pm.
Four firemen and two fire officers hurt during rescue attempt at Mont Blanc, Kemps Corner. The injured firemen have been rushed to Jaslok and Breach Candy hospitals.
A fire brigade official termed it as a "major" fire.
Fourteen fire engines, seven water tankers and four ambulances were rushed to the spot.
Civic body sources said six fire-fighters sustained injuries during the operation to control the flames.
"People who reside above the 12th floor are trapped in their apartments. They cannot come down as the smoke had engulfed the entire floor," said Viraz, a resident.
Another resident said that due to multiple cylinder bursts in the apartments, the fire spread across the entire floor.
Some residents also told reporters that the building was equipped with fire-fighting apparatus.
