Shaina NC, Smriti Irani among BJP’s dream team

The newly-appointed 115-member state BJP executive by state president Nitin Gadkari has some new faces among the old guard.

Noted fashion designer Shaina NC joins the party as a spokeswoman for Mumbai, while TV star Smriti Irani of the Saas-Bahu fame is among 32 main organisational office-bearers.

Both women are also members of the party’s state woman’s wing.
The other office-bearers who make up the youth brigade include national general secretary Gopinath Munde’s nephew, Dhananjay, who will head the party’s youth wing, the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha, along with former cop YC Pawar, who has been appointed as its vice-president.

Besides stalwarts like Pratap Ashar and Vinod Tawde, the younger brigade includes Suhas Pharande, Piyush Goyal (treasurer), Dayashankar Tiwari and Manisha Chaudhari, who will head the state woman’s wing. After releasing the list on Friday, state BJP spokesman Madhav Bhandari said all appointees are on a three-year tenure.

They comprise nine vice-presidents, four general secretaries, nine secretaries, one treasurer, six spokespersons, including four regional spokespersons, 52 executive committee members, 38 permanent invitees and 25 special invitees.

Bhandari added that Eknath Khadse, the newly appointed state legislature party leader,  by virtue of his post and being a member of the parliamentary board, will also be one of the permanent invitees in the state executive.
