The Shiv Sena MLC and general secretary of Bharatiya Kamagar Sena (BKS) Kiran Pawaskar on Wednesday submitted his resignation from the MLC’s post, and also from all party posts. This could be a major shock to the party and its organisational structure and also exposes the dissatisfaction within the party.
Pawaskar, on Wednesday submitted his resignation from party posts at Matoshri and then resigned from the MLC’s post at Vidhan Bhavan.
It is said that, Pawaskar was unhappy over the recent reshuffle in the BKS committee, which had restricted his powers inside the organisation. Also the appointment of another general secretary in BKS, had left Pawaskar with minimal powers. Pawaskar was one of the key-leaders of the Sena’s labour union and was instrumental in strengthening party unions at places such as airport, some time back.
However, the party insiders are mentioning that, Pawaskar in recent times had tried to create a larger than life image, which had drawn ire from Sena leadership. As a result, his responsibilities were decreased and he was even removed from the prestigious airport union of the party.
“He was given complete freedom inside the party. From a normal shiv sainik, he became one of the most influential leaders in the party. It was his duty to follow party’s orders. Just because few of his responsibilities were given to someone else, that does not mean party was sidelining him. He should have respected the party orders,” said Vinayak Raut, Sena leader. It is said that, Raut and Pawaskar had an extremely bitter relationship over the dominance in Sena related labour unions.
Senior Sena leader and MLA Subhash Desai, said that the party is still unaware about the reasons of his (Pawaskar’s) resignation. “We are looking in to the matter and collecting all the details. Then only, we can come to any conclusion,” said Desai.
Highly placed sources indicate that, after submitting his resignation, Pawaskar will look forward to join Nationalist Congress Party(NCP). However, NCP leaders have not confirmed the news.
