Travelling by business or cattle class, at CSIA you'll get the royal treatment

Irrespective of whether you are travelling by the business/first class or the economy class, the Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) has decided to pamper you with a royal treatment.

It has opened, in phases, its new lounge, Pranaam, to both domestic and international passengers. Its services have also being extended to the domestic terminal. The airport authorities say the services offered through the new initiative will be a boon to passengers who don't travel in the expensive business/first class.

The services are available for as little as Rs 1000 for domestic, and Rs 2,200 for international passengers, and go up depending on the benefits availed. The initiative won the reputed Golden Peacock Innovative award on Friday.

"It has been designed to provide guests at the state-of-the-art terminal T2 and domestic terminal T1 a seamless and stress-free experience," said an airport official. "It simplifies passenger travel, right from arrival at the airport, independent of the airline or class travelled," he added.

Mumbai airport is considered one among the busiest airports in the continent, with over 32.2 million passengers passing through it annually. Once the airport development work is completed, the capacity of the airport will increase to accommodate over 40 million passengers annually, the airport officials added.

The initiative offers customized packages and an array of services to meet the requirements of the guests including professional and special attention to the elderly, personalized care for women travelling with kids, and secured transit for the young.

An officer dedicated to the task will assist passengers till the boarding gate or aerobridge gate, apart from assisting them with airline and airport facilities, including security and baggage clearance through VIP lane.

"Further, those who seek peace and quiet for resting or completing some work, can assess the lounge facilities that have sections for refreshing, buffet, baby care and business," revealed an airport insider.
