The eastern road transport office in Wadala finally announced the long-delayed 25 new share-an-auto routes in the city’s eastern suburbs, on Saturday.

Guardian minister of the Mumbai suburban district, Mohammad Aarif Khan, was present at the inauguration.

Once autos start plying on the 25 new authorised routes, share auto services to areas in Kurla, Ghatkopar, Jarimari, Asalpha village, Andheri station, Powai and Hiranandani will be available to commuters.

The RTO (Eastern) is currently surveying other commuter-heavy roads for more share-an-auto routes. Regional transport officer, Wadala, Vikas Pandkar announced that the transport office is willing to authorise more share-an-auto routes.

The newly announced routes were supposed to have started in late September, along with the 23 stands which were inaugurated by RTO (Eastern) outside Mulund, Bhandup, Kanjur Marg, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla and Chembur railway stations on the eastern and western sides. No official explanation regarding the delay was given.
