Seventy-four kilograms of cannabis worth Rs1.48 lakh were recovered from five bags abandoned on a railway station in Mumbai today, police said.

An on-duty police constable spotted the bags on platform number 1 of Dadar station early this morning.

"When he checked them, he found something amiss. He inquired about the owner of the bags, but nobody came forward to claim them," said RS Kokate, inspector at the Mumbai Central Railway Police Station.

The bags were later seized and when opened, 74kg of cannabis were found in them, he said.

"We are going through the CCTV footage at the railway station to find out who brought the bags inside the station," the officer added.
