Bollywood actress Rakhee’s Bandra flat burgled, gold stolen

When yesteryear Bollywood actress Rakhee Gulzar left her Bandra home on January 20 to unwind at her Panvel farmhouse, little did she imagine that the getaway will cost her a few lakh of rupees.

While she was away, unidentified persons allegedly broke into her plush apartment and decamped with valuables and gold jewellery worth Rs7 lakh.

The burglary came to light when the actress returned home on Saturday evening and found her house broken into.

Rakhee hurriedly checked her belongings and rushed to the police claiming that valuables worth Rs49 lakh had been stolen from her house. However, after scrutinising the house in detail, it was found that valuables worth Rs7 lakh were missing.

According to the Bandra police, Rakhee, accompanied by her
maid servant, left for Panvel on January 20. However, as soon as she returned to her third floor apartment at Aloma building on Perry Road, she got a whiff of the theft. “On reaching the main door, she found that the latch was broken,” said Amit Sawant, 24, Rakhee’s driver.

According to the police, at around 9.30 pm on Saturday, the Bandra police was informed about the break-in at Rakhee’s house. “Preliminary investigations suggest that the robber entered the house after breaking the lock on the main door,” said Prakash George, senior police inspector, Bandra police station.

“The three-storey building has four flats, but nobody saw anyone enter or leave Rakhee’s flat,” said a police officer. “I am working here since the last three months in the day shift. I did not see anyone enter the building,” said, Ajay Patel, 19, the security guard of the building.
