Ex-MLA charged with publicly announcing 'supari' to kill Raj Thackeray, gets bail

The Madhya Pradesh police produced former MLA from the state, Kishore Samrite, before a local court on charges of publicly announcing Rs1 crore as 'supari' (contract) to kill MNS chief Raj Thackeray, where he was granted bail.

A local Maharashtra Navnirman Sena activist, Rajesh Pandit had filed a complaint against Samrite at the Nashik Road police station after the former Samajwadi Party MLA in November 2008 announced a 'supari' of Rs1 crore and legal assistance to anyone who killed Raj Thackeray.
     
Pandit had also filed a criminal complaint in a Nashik court. On which the court had issued summons against Samrite.

As the former MLA from Langi constituency did not appear before the court, subsequently, a warrant was also issued against him.

The SP leader surrendered before the MP police, after the court issued a notice to attach his properties.

Accordingly Samrite was produced in the court yesterday before judge Abhijit Nandgaonkar, who granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000, Samrite's lawyer Baburao Shende told reporters.

The SP leader grabbed headlines in November 2008 after he released a controversial video of Raj Thackeray cutting a birthday cake with "bhaiya" written on it.

Samrite is known for indulging in publicity stunts and had been externed from Balaghat district twice.
