While the Wadala Government Railway Police (GRP) is taking the four accused constables to task for allegedly pushing Habibullah Khan out of a running train, Khan’s misfortune continues to worsen with each passing day.

Just when he was recovering from the trauma of losing a leg, his doctor reported gangrene on his lost limb, multiplying his sorrow. Consequently, his leg may have to be amputated further to avoid more medical complications.

Confirming the news, Khan’s wife Noorie said, “His medication started showing positive results and he had just started feeling better when they told us his leg might need to be amputated even more.”

Doctors treating Khan at Sion hospital said they are still contemplating on whether to go ahead with it. “His leg is still in a critical state and under observation. We are yet to take a final call on it.”

Noorie added how the family was overburdened with the expenses sans any additional financial support. “We have already spent over Rs50,000 on all the medicines and the blood required.  The responsible parties have not taken any initiative to help as compensation till now,” she said.

Moreover, the four accused constables—RR Jedhe, VP Thakur, SS Patil and SM Mangaonkar—who are currently under suspension, are being interrogated by the GRP. Assistant commissioner of police (GRP), Sunil Mamusure, told DNA, “The accused are still being interrogated and any details pertaining to the investigation cannot be revealed. We have full sympathies for Khan and will ensure he gets justice.”
