    Car agent duo of father-son was arrested by the Khadak police station for allegedly duping a city-based doctor to the tune of Rs4.50 lakh.

    Dr Shivdarshan Mohanlal Agarwal (37) of Nidgi-Pradhikaran lodged a complaint with the Khadak police station against Girish Shankarrao Vedpatak and his son Prashant of Shukrawar Peth.

    The suspects were charged under the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
    Senior inspector Rajendra Kadam of Khadak police station told DNA, “Agarwal runs an auto consultancy and auto evaluate business. On June 11, this year, Agarwal was introduced to Vedpataks by their mutual friend and the suspects showed interest in purchasing Agarwal’s Ford Fiesta car for Rs4.50 lakh.

    The suspects and the complainant signed a mutual agreement on July 2 and the suspects gave a cheque for the amount to Agarwal.

    “The father-son duo sold the car to another person for Rs2.90 lakh. When the cheque bounced, Agarwal demanded his vehicle back and found that it was sold to another person. Agarwal even approached the regional transport office (RTO) and later approached us.”

    The suspects were produced before the court of judicial magistrate first class on Tuesday and remanded in police custody till Thursday.
