Two separate incidents of fire were reported from Veer Savarkar Hindu Vidyalaya in Govandi and outside VIBGYOR High School, Goregaon.  Luckily, in both cases, the fire was minor and no one was injured.

The ground floor computer laboratory of the Govandi school caught fire due to a short circuit at around 3pm.

Rajesh Kumar, principal of the school, said, “We were alerted by the smoke coming out of the computer lab. Luckily, the room was empty. We evacuated the school building and informed the fire authorities.” According to the fire officers, the fire was doused within minutes. Around 15 to 20 computers were damaged.

At Goregaon, a cobbler’s wooden stall outside the school premises on Shreerang Sabde Marg caught fire at 1pm and was quickly engulfed in flames. The fire damaged vehicles parked next to the stall before it was doused using fire extinguishers.
