Narcotics Control Bureau seizes hashish worth Rs1 crore

Officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of the Mumbai unit acting on a tip off on Saturday arrested four people. They seized 68 kgs of hashish brought to the city.

On Saturday, the truck was intercepted by NCB officials near Vashi APMC market. When the driver’s cabin was checked, NCB officials found the hashish packets kept concealed in the cavities.

Yashodhan Wanage, Zonal Director, NCB said “The contraband was brought from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir for delivery to drug traffickers in the city. Hashish was loaded in the truck at Srinagar. After that it was taken to Shopian where apples were loaded in the carrier section so that the smell of apples could camouflage the smell of hashish.”

The person who is said to have brought the contraband for delivery has been identified as Tauseef Ahmed Khan, 20, a resident of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir. Also the truck driver identified as Abdul Majid Dar from the Shopian district of J&K has been arrested.

Khan had brought the contraband to deliver it to Chand Shehzada Sayed alias Chand who is a suspected hashish supplier in Mumbai, Chand was accompanied Rehman Abdul Shaikh and both were also arrested near the APMC market when the truck was intercepted.

NCB officials are further checking on Khan to see if he had a criminal record in the past. The Jammu and Kashmir police have been informed and will look for the kingpin that Khan worked for. It is suspected that the kingpin is one of the leading drug traffickers in the country.

Khan started working for him about two to three years ago. It has been revealed that Khan had travelled to Punjab and few other places where he delivered the contraband.
