The blood donation camp organised by Shiv Sena to mark the Golden Jubilee of Maharashtra's foundation evoked good response.
    
The day-long camp was inaugurated by party executive president Uddhav Thackeray at the NSE complex in Goregaon, suburban Mumbai early this morning by donating blood.
    
Thackeray's son Aditya and wife Rashmi were also present.
    
Speaking about the concept of blood donation, Thackeray said Marathi speaking people had to shed blood to demand inclusion of Mumbai into Maharashtra fifty years ago.
    
"I was not around that time nor people born after me. We organised the blood donation camp to pledge that the united Maharashtra will stay forever," he said.
    
As many as 800 people were able to donate blood at one time.
    
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has organised a Maharashtrian cuisine show at Andheri sports complex to mark the 50th anniversary of the state.
