In an exemplary act, a 33-year-old software engineer, Prashant Pandharinath Apte helped the Khadak police to nab a chain snatcher suspect Dutta Baburao Dombale (21) in Shukrawar Peth on Wednesday morning.

Netrangi Chandrakant Khedekar has filed a complaint with the Khadak police station. According to the police, Netrangi had gone for an interview at GNS Technology Private Limited in Shukrawar Peth.

Speaking to DNA, Netrangi said, "At around 12.15 pm, the company officials announced a delay in the selection process. As soon as I stepped out of the office and reached the landing, the suspect, who was talking on the cellphone, pushed me and tried to snatch my gold chain."

Netrangi screamed for help and Apte and other interview applicants nabbed the suspect.

Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Rajesh Bansode told DNA, "This is a positive sign from the citizens' side to help others."
Incidentally, a similar kind of incident had taken place at the Airport area last week, when a senior citizen helped the Airport police nab two fake policemen.
