PCMC's dengue fear comes true at corporator's house

The tall claims of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) that they have controlled the spread of dengue and malaria fell flat when two sons of corporator Chhaya Sabale were reported to be infected with dengue.

Three cases of dengue were reported from the Ramabai Ambedkarnagar area of Kalewadi, Pimpri. Other than the two brothers, Prashant Sable(20) and Sanket Sable (16), Diksha More is the third victim of dengue.

The brothers are recuperating at a private hospital in Kalewadi, while More was discharged from PCMC’s Jijamata Hospital.

The issue of dengue cases was raised by Chhaya Sabale in the standing committee meeting on Tuesday and municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi had directed health department to inspect the area again.

PCMC statistics show a significant drop in dengue and malaria cases this year.
The civic authorities are claiming that the situation is much better than previous years. Medical official Dr Pavan Savale said, “Though the situation is under control this year, we are continuously observing the situation. These said cases were not confirmed by the civic body-run Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH). We will give details only after getting reports from YCMH whether it is dengue cases.”

PCMC health department has appointed 202 staffers for finding out possible mosquito breeding spots and destroy it. There are 40 sanitary inspector appointed at 4 ward offices. There two surveyors working under each inspector . Besides, 122 people are appointed for fogging at various areas of the city. Each surveyors visits 50 houses every day, and this way 4,000 houses are being inspected every day.
