AMMI offers golden chance to aspirants

It will conduct another common entrance test on June 17 for students.

AMMI offers golden chance to aspirants

The MBA/MMS aspirants seeking to get admission in B-schools and have missed out on the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) conducted by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) or have been unable to pass in the GD (group discussion) & PI (personal interview) process need not worry.

They will get another opportunity to appear for another common entrance test (CET), which will conducted by the Association of Management of MBA/MMS Institutes (AMMI).

The AMMI is a body of 335 AICTE approved and university affiliated B-schools in Maharashtra. The move assumes significance when close to 15,000 MBA/MMS seats remained vacant even after the DTE CAP rounds were conducted in the last few years.

According to AMMI’s executive president, Eknath Khedkar, close to 15,000 MBA/MMS seats are expected to be at stake for the association’s CET, which has been scheduled for June 17. “The Pravesh Niyantran Samiti (Admission Regulatory Committee) in the state has given AMMI the permission to conduct the test,” he said.

“The AMMI’s CET will benefit not only those students who have missed their DTE CAP rounds but also those who failed to qualify from MAH-MBA/MMS- CET 2012 or were unable to pass the GD and PI.” said Khedkar.

Last year, AMMI admitted about 10,000 students in Maharashtra, informed Khedkar.

“There are in all about 45,000 MBA/MMS seats available in Maharashtra, including the B-schools under AMMI. We (AMMI) expect the DTE CAP process will result in filling up at the most 30,000 seats. The remaining 15,000 seats will be available for AMMI’s test and admission process,” he said.

As three CETs will be conducted this year, Khedkar said that the entrance test is in accordance with the permission granted by Admission Regulatory Committee, Maharashtra. He informed that not only students from Maharashtra but outside the state too can appear for the entrance exam.
